Sunset Rally 7pm Bear Mtn to Edgewater

Date: Thursday March15 6:30 arrive, 7pm start.

Bear Mtn, NY, Bear Mtn Bridge Rd. / Hook Rd. to Edgewater Commons
(Lets park near the starbucks as a group upon arriving)

This is a last minute organized event - taking advantage of this wonderful weather! We are starting at the park alongside the circle (marked Atlantic Kayak Tours) @7pm.

Arriving at Edgewater around 11pm. The route moves quicker than the google time suggests. But if we need to, we will take shortcuts. This will be a spirited run - but cautious - because its night & as we move south local police become more visible, monitoring these roads. Especially 9W.

This event is scheduled on Thursday evening because of this is an active location on Thursday evenings for car meets, featuring many unique arrivals. A mini originated event, but friends and family welcome, including other makes.
I will bring my tripod, so we can take some great sunset & night shots at specific points along the way. Looks like we will be having clear weather then also!

HOW IT WORKS - ANSWERED

Ok got some questions about how it works. And been finding myself repeating stuff to everyone I talk to about it in person - they say sounds really cool, but shy about joining. So maybe this will help explain to some:
When you arrive at the rally you will be given an envelope containing a # sticker for the glass of your car (so we can quickly track you @ checkpoints) and list of explicit navigating directions. We will be releasing cars at 60 second intervals giving some gaps. Your navigator will guide you through 5 checkpoints. We will be checking your odometer reading and setting a recommended completion time. These are on mostly public roads / park roads so we realize speed will be affected. Make a mistake/loose time - make it up! But most points will be awarded to accuracy of odometer reading. So grab a good navigator and have a blast!

Calling out to all curvy roadway enthusiasts!

Come out and join the HudsonValleyRally. We will be traveling from Jersey City area moving north towards Bear Mtn. area. This is a unique opportunity to experience scenic overlooks, winding roadways and take part in an organized road rally. We will follow basic SCCA rally rules. You will be provided driving directions and checkpoints that will check your odometer reading for accurate course tracking. Points will be given for accurate course navigation and accurate timing. Winner with highest points will receive prize.

Rally will take place on public roads and there is no off-road parts of the course. $10 per car entrance fee. Driver + Navigator required. Both must be 18 yrs+. Valid driver's license + insurance required. Beginners are 100% welcome to join. No prior rally experience necessary. If you have never tried this, this will be a perfect opportunity! We will explain all the rules and make it as simple as possible. The course has been set, and instructions have been tailored to be as clear as possible. The goal is not to get you frustrated and lost - just enjoy the ride!
We will conclude with a casual brunch!
